Before this class I can honestly say that I had never heard of second life. During the class I found it quite serial that there was such a thing and that you can make money through it. I’m still in two minds weather I agree with it or not. I don’t think it is a fad and I feel that it will keep progressing, which was shown on an overhead during the class “Second Life and the Hype cycle” witch showed that second life is progressing up the slop of enlightment and will hopefully reach the plateau of productivity.
Since this particular class I have become intrigued by its existence. It amazing to think that student or person all around can experience the glorious works of art which lye in the realm of the Sistine Chapel. And that it is so life like I find it scary. It is also amazing that meeting can be held through second life these meeting could include people from all around the world. It could be a great money saver for business people and governments by cutting out travel costs.
As I was interest in the future I asked a friend who is head of the marketing department in for Horse Racing Ireland, Tamarisk Doyle had she heard of it and what were her views on the subject, she said that they are in talks of maybe creating a virtual racecourse in second life such as maybe the Curagh or Leopardstown which will host race meeting ect… she said that their researchers have shown that in coming years it will be a great opportunity as an alternative money spinner.
With that even though I am a bit skeptical about the whole second life stance and I feel it may take a while till I would join the motion, but I feel in coming years everyone will be part of it, and I can easily see it outdoing social networking sites such as facebook and bebo.
